Freshers

Hello everybody, today I’m talking about Freshers by Tom Ellen and Lucy Ivison.

This book was so fitting for me as I’m hoping to go to uni this September (awaiting A-level results :/ ) and I liked the fact that it was very light-hearted and yet discussed things such a’s homesickness that many people experience away from home for the first time.

“Maybe it’s the right thing that it’s over, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t have happened. I’m glad it did.”

Freshers is a YA book following Luke and Phoebe during their first 2 months at university whilst they settle in at a new place, make new friends and discover more about themselves and their pasts too. The relationship betwern Luke and Pheobe was sometimes romantic or funny but otherwise it was very realistic. It wasnt all happy endings and sappy moments.

This book was honestly so funny at times and the characters very relatable, the voice of the 18 year olds was very authentic, which made the reading experience even more enjoyable.

I hope you enjoyed this review, Alice.
