Today I’m going to share what I’ve been reading since September and a quote that stood out for me in each text. (I started uni so all the texts are set)
1. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
One of my favourite quotes from Dickens’ book is this: I have been bent and broken but – I hope – into a better shape.
2. Translations by Brian Friel
Fave quote: But remember that words are signals, counters. They are not immortal.
3. Othello by William Shakespeare
Fave quote: O, beware, my lord, of jealousy; it is the green-ey’d monster, which doth mock the meat it feeds on.
4. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Fave quote: Let us learn to show our friendship for a man when he is alive and not after he is dead.
5. Macbeth by William Shakespeare
Fave quote: Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under ‘t.
Thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed this brief blog and have seen a little into each of the texts if you haven’t read them before. -Alice
